Ekaterina Alexandrova defeated Leylah Fernandez in a thrilling first-round match at the 2023 US Open. The match, which lasted over three hours, saw both players trading blows before Alexandrova ultimately emerged victorious 7-6(5), 6-3.

Fernandez Bows Out in Disappointment

Fernandez, who reached the finals of the US Open in 2021, entered the tournament with high hopes. However, she was unable to overcome Alexandrova's consistent play and powerful groundstrokes. Despite her defeat, Fernandez expressed confidence in her future prospects.
